Welcome to the Law Offices of Steven J. Abelson Esq. Our practice is focused on the representation of consumer bankruptcy debtors and related consumer litigation. We help individuals file for protection under Chapters 7, 13, and 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.

Prior to making any decision to file for bankruptcy, we work with clients to consider alternative solutions of debt relief including debt negotiations, referrals to consumer credit counseling organizations or qualified mortgage brokers if refinance or reverse mortgages are appropriate considerations.

As necessary, we will consider the availability of litigation to redress violations by creditors under the federal Truth in Lending laws, violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Additionally, we will actively protect our clients rights under the Bankruptcy Code by litigating violations of the Bankruptcy Code by creditors including actions for damages as appropriate.

We are designated as a “debt relief agency” by the United States Bankruptcy Code under 11
